This site has a citywide role as it is the location of the premier athletics stadium, Alexander Stadium, and the new indoor training facility. The site has formal and informal recreation in the form of football, a reservoir, heather beds, tree lined avenues and a new play area funded through the new capital works programme.

Due to the nature of the site, large scale events can be held there. These include the Handsworth Carnival and an annual dog show. This site is to be looked at as part of the park development and will be looking at the horticultural features on the site.
