Sure you can:

1. Create or edit your story. In the main 'body' area you should see a editing toolbar along the bottom.
2. On this toolbar click the 'camera' button. This lets you browse images you have already added to your site, or upload new images, and insert them into your story.
3. You can choose different image sizes. The thumbnail is the smallest size.
