What is OpenID?

OpenID lets you safely sign in to different websites with a single password.

It's a free and open identity scheme based on URLs. You can get your OpenID from many providers - a popular provider is http://www.myopenid.com. LiveJournal.com and a number of other sites also create OpenIDs for their members.

When you signup with a provider they give you a URL, like http://yourname.myopenid.com. Then when you visit a site that supports OpenID - like this one - you can skip the normal site registration process by entering your OpenID (URL).

When you use your OpenID with us for the first time we will redirect your browser to your ID provider. They may ask you to login to their site. If you're happy to continue, you will be sent back here to complete your registration.

The benefits for you are not having to remember another set of login details, and a slicker signup process.
